WHAT YOU'VE MISSED

If you haven't tuned in the Good Times show (Mon-Thurs, 6-9 a.m.) on Magic 89.9, you might have missed these nasty segments:

MOJO'S FAVORITE: Eric Fructoso took off his pants and dangled around his dick during the show’s “Strip Tuesday” segment.
MAUI'S FAVOR: Katya Santos showed her boobs for the show.
MO LOVES: A married woman called and said she was seducing a lesbian. Mo said it’s okay to sleep around because of high sex drive. Mojo “violently” disagreed with Mo.
MAUI & MOJO GOT DRUNK ON AIR: It was the “birthday of Maui’s left booby.” The two had Jack Daniel’s and Sky Vodka for breakfast.
INEVITABLE: People call in to say how much they hate the show. These bashers sure are passionate.

You are certainly a talented writer, Carlo! Curt and witty, upbeat, always fresh. What I especially like in your writing is that whatever your topic is, you slickly put an exciting and intruiguing vibe to it--a great plus. There's a good amount of youthful energy exuding from your statements, yet the hint of perceptiveness is there. Undoubtedly, you have gift of verse.

Now what you need are good topics. The brouhaha with Mo Twister and the gang are amusing...but as in everything, when it gets too much, it loses its power; so I suggest that a real fresh topic will take us to another hot ride. As a reader, I want to be entertained, but at the same time provoked, shaken out of my stupor. A commonplace in contemporary culture viewed with a twist or in a whole new different way will kindle beginning sparks for change. So to make beat generation really beat with life is its seemingly kababawan, but a tug for challenge, or something to think about. Along this line, research is a Must. (So, I guess I have to join your contest so I earn my prize and you get your topic ;-))

You're doing it Carlo! You're here... a great breakthrough for a fresh voice. Stay being sanguine and creative! I can see you having a long exhilirating life as a writer.

Hi Cathy! Thanks so much for your comment. I think your post was the most personal of all. Yours is very helpful in terms of my writing. I'll definitely think about what you said.

About the Magic89 topic, sorry about that. It actually looked too much because I divided the entire article (in Manila Standard) into separate posts. I also wanted to cater to the show's fans.

On choosing topics, I really want something that would make people think. But before I do that, I'd have to touch on things that more people can relate to, like a popular radio stations. But I make sure to inject something that makes a lot of sense like observing present culture.

I totally agree with you that research's very important, which is why I turn to the best subjects for every topic. For the magic article, I interviewed the DJs and fans themselves.

I'll comment on your blog asap. Promise! hey, you might just win a prize!

By the way, what topics do you like to see in BEAT GENERATION? =)

take care
